1883/2 Fletcher variety
10-d Shield nickel, with cud at base of date, PCGS
XF40. This is the toughest of the known Fletcher 10 variety
die states, and it thankfully happens to be a wonderfully choice and
original coin. This is also known as FS-05-1883-303, the Cherry
Picker's Guide listing. As noted there, this variety as a whole is
fairly common, but this late die state is quite rare indeed.
